The purpose of Men’s Ministry is to bring glory to God by growing men into committed disciples of Christ through learning, serving, fellowshipping, and reaching other men for Christ – together.
The following events are planned for Men’s Ministries at Shawnee Hills Baptist Church. Please consider participating in some of these as they represent opportunities both to serve and grow.
2023-24
Men’s Equip Nights
Sunday Nights in the Fall (September 17 – November 12)
Each Sunday from 6:00-7:15pm, we gather as men for mutual encouragement. This season, we’ll explore the book, Knowing God, by J.I. Packer. Several of our men will facilitate the larger group sessions, and each weekly meeting will end with small group discussion as we learn to apply the truth to our lives. This is an excellent way to get to know other men in the church.
Small Group Discipleship/Accountability
September 2023 – April 2024
These 4-5 man small groups meet with each other weekly (or bi-weekly in some cases) to study God’s Word and encourage one another as we learn to live according to what God has said. These are intensive discipleship groups, but they lead to lasting friendships. Men who are new to our small group discipleship ministry are encouraged to begin with our Step 1 series, about basic discipleship. We then progress to Step 2, which builds on that foundation. For men who have completed Steps 1 & 2, we offer a Step 3 group, which focuses on developing men for spiritual leadership.
Men of God Conference
March 2, 2024
This one-day conference, held at Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, OH, is for men in high school and older.
Prayer Breakfast/Workday
October 14, 2023 & April 2024
These two Saturday workdays at the church building will be begging with a prayer breakfast, followed by a morning of working together on various building and grounds projects. Whatever your skill level, there is a place for you to participate.
Men’s Retreat
April 19-20, 2024, Scioto Hills Christian Camp
This two-day overnight men’s retreat is held in southern Ohio about two hours from Jamestown at a Christian camp. There will be a featured speaker, fishing, skeet shooting, corn hole, and many more fun activities. The cost will be about $115 and includes one night’s lodging and four amazing meals beginning with a steak dinner with all the trimmings on Friday night.
