Credit Christ is the title of this Sunday’s message based on Philemon 8-20, as the series on Philemon, Runaway Slave- Useless to Useful, continues.  All of us are either in debt or have been in debt, due to the purchase of a vehicle or a house, or because of a college school bill.  But, how many of us realize the debt we owe God, spiritually, because of the cost of sin in our lives?  Onesimus was a slave who stole from Philemon and ran away.  Paul offered to pay Onesimus’ debt, which he did not owe.  Likewise, Christ paid the debt of our sin in dying for us.  As slaves to sin, we owe a debt we cannot pay, and Christ paid the debt he did not owe.  This Sunday we look at the picture of imputation in Philemon and see how it illustrates what Christ did for us in making it possible for forgiven sinners to be debt-free—spiritually.  Please read Philemon this week in preparation for the message.
